We are happy to share that the Guru Krupa Foundation was one of the organisations that approved a grant to support our Montessori program for the 2025-2026 school year. This funding enabled us to run 13 (9 kindergarten and 4 Class I) Montessori environments across two public schools under the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) in MGR Nagar and Royapettah, serving children between the ages of 3 and 6 years of age .
The Guru Krupa Foundation, a New York-based private foundation, has been a dedicated partner of SRCT since 2021. Their holistic approach to social welfare and education aligns perfectly with our mission to empower underprivileged children and disadvantaged women. Since 1999, SRCT has grown from promoting the Montessori approach in a single school to a network of 17 GCC schools, besides government schools and balwadis. As of March 2026, SRCT is working in 50 kindergarten Montessori classroom environments across 17 GCC schools and 4 Class I Montessori classroom environments in two of these schools. Over 100 teachers have been trained in the Montessori method over the last 25+ years and a dedicated team of committed staff have impacted the lives of approximately 25,000 children.
By providing a supportive environment where economically disadvantaged children can explore at their own pace, we help them develop the cognitive and emotional skills necessary to become confident, and contributing members of society.
The grant for 2025-26, supporting 13 teachers and 5 helpers, ensured these children received the high-quality, individualized guidance they deserve.
